- What is an e-Invoice?
An e-Invoice is a digital tax invoice required by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) under Malaysia’s e-invoice mandate.
In Malaysia, e-Invoice uses a clearance model, meaning:
- UniPin prepares the invoice.
- The invoice is submitted to IRBM for validation.
- Once approved, IRBM assigns a Unique Identifier Number (UIN) and a QR Code.
- The validated e-Invoice becomes the official invoice for your purchase.
This system ensures accuracy, transparency, and compliance with Malaysian tax regulations for all Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Consumer (B2C), and Business-to-Government (B2G) transactions.
- Is requesting an e-Invoice mandatory?
No. An e-Invoice is optional and only required if you need it for tax reporting.
- Will I still receive a normal UniPin receipt?
Yes. A standard payment receipt is still provided even if you do not request an e-Invoice.
- How do I request an e-Invoice?
You must request an e-Invoice once completed payment. Here's the step-by-step process:
- At the Payment Completion Page, select "Request e-Invoice"
- Click Close to proceed – you will be automatically direct to the Request e-Invoice information page
- Fill in the required e-Invoice information:
- Full Name (as per NRIC)
- NRIC Number
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- Complete home address
- Email address
- Mobile number
- Submit your request
Important:
- All the details above are mandatory. The information collected is required for submission to IRBM and will not be used for other purposes.
- Please ensure the information provided is accurate before submission. Information cannot be edited after submission.
- How do I get my Tax Identification Number (TIN)?
Your Tax Identification Number (TIN) can be retrieved from the MyTax portal after logging in. For Malaysians, TIN replaces the previous Income Tax Number (ITN).
If you haven't registered for MyTax yet, you may create an account at the official IRBM website: mytax.hasil.gov.my
- Can I request an e-invoice without providing my NRIC and TIN?
No. IRBM requires both NRIC and TIN to validate your e-Invoice.
For non-Malaysian users:
IRBM requires a valid Malaysian-issued identification number and TIN. If you do not have these, you cannot request an e-Invoice.
- When should I request an e-Invoice?
You must request an e-Invoice during checkout, immediately after completing your payment.
The “Request e-Invoice” option is only available on the payment completion page. Once you closed that page, you will no longer able to request an e-Invoice for that purchase.
- Can I request an e-Invoice after my purchase?
No.
IRBM does not allow retroactive submission.
If you did not select “Request e-Invoice” during checkout, we are unable to process an e-Invoice for that transaction.
- Where can I view or download my e-Invoice?
Once IRBM validates your e-Invoice, IRBM will send an email notification to the email address you provided. You can then log in to the MyInvois portal to download your e-Invoice at https://myinvois.hasil.gov.my.
Notes:
- IRBM’s email is sent only once.
- Please check your spam/junk folder if you do not see the e-Invoice in your inbox.
- Please save your e-Invoice for your records.
- When will I receive my e-Invoice?
You can expect email notification from IRBM within two (2) working days after your purchase.
Example / illustration:
- Purchase date: 1 August 2025 (Friday)
- e-Invoice delivery: by 5 August 2025 (Tuesday)
Processing time may vary depending on IRBM system availability. Please check your spam/junk folder if you haven't received it within this timeframe.
- What happens if I entered incorrect information?
If the information submitted is incorrect (e.g., wrong NRIC, wrong TIN, wrong email), IRBM may reject your e-Invoice request.
IRBM only accepts one submission per transaction ID, so we cannot correct or resubmit your e-invoice request.
Please double-check all details / information before submitting.
- Can I resubmit my e-Invoice request if IRBM rejects it?
No.
Each transaction can only have one e-Invoice submission.
If IRBM rejects your request, a new submission cannot be made.
- Can businesses request e-Invoices?
Yes. However, the TIN and identification number must match IRBM records.
